longtime no blog. do not worry am back
I met with a family friend today, she is a nurse that works with the aged or those with some handicap and are not able to do things for themselves.
I was there to assist her for the week, as i got into the home with her, i already had my inner skepticism when i was told what we will be doing for the clients, also mind you in college i changed my major from healthcare to business for this same reason or so i though.
As we proceed to "take care" of the client needs, all those in the type of healthcare would attest to my first hand experience and how totally humbling or challenging the process can be.
"take care" means wash, clean, arrange the clients bodies and their homes. Visualize a middle aged man over 50 or so, accomplished but now has to be taken care by strangers who he does not even know. God forbid those strangers are means or not caring enough....Imagine. This is a skill set that requires a caring attitude because trust me your heart will break right here.
As we helped him bathe, clean, even shopped for his weekly needs. I was totally humbled and inspired by this experience, as we encouraged him, his thankful tearful appreciation....." i am trying" he says and those words broke me inside. I was deeply moved, mind you ...am one person that considers myself "humanitarian" enough with the amount of non profit organization and ministries that i devote my time, but this one different i was pained and challenged and that to me ladies and gentlemen is God's teaching me once again life lessons in Humility!
I love the holy spirit he knows what i needed. I asked for direction, i was given. Ask and your shall receive. Humble yourself i heard the tiny voice within me echoing loudly. I was thankful to my dear sister who shared this experience with me, As we discussed further on the way back, she can tell i was deeply moved
Fast forward to my lessons learned on humility:
God Opposes the Proud: James 4:6
But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
Humbleness and Prayer: 2 Chronicles 7:14
and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Faith and Humbleness: Romans 12:3
For through the grace given to me I say to every man among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
God has given us the Gift of Grace: Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
Consider theses careers that will teach humility and also present a fulfilling spiritual work:
Nursing/Nurse
Occupational Therapy
Physical Therapy
Medical Doctor
Its never too late to learn and make a difference!

Fast forward to my lessons learned on humility:
- life is fragile
- life is not fair
- we will get old one day
- nurses are the best
- healthcare is humbling career or profession
- anyone that lacks humility should take a trip/work in sick or disabled person home or hospital
- God teaches us lessons daily
- life moments are for the sensitive at heart
- health is priceless
- prayer unlocks vision and deeper clarity
- the measure of a man is in the actions and risks you take and rising above your comfort zones
- the willingness to learn and see deeper meaning in all that goes on in life
